About Me

Hello, I'm Laura.

I hold a Level 7 post-graduate Diploma in Integrative Transactional Analysis and I am a fully qualified psychotherapist, accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and I work to the ethical codes and procedures of these organisations. I have over 15 years’ experience of working with people in a therapeutic capacity and more latterly, experience of working within the child and adolescent care system. I have worked with various Mental Health charities and organisations, alongside my private practice work.

Before I trained as a Psychotherapist I predominantly worked in outdoor education, using the challenges of the natural world as a catalyst to help people face adversity and realise their potential. It was through this work that I realised the outdoor environment wasn't enough alone to heal and I entered into therapy myself. I have experienced first hand the transformations that psychotherapy can offer us. I completely understand what it is like to sit in a chair and feel vulnerable and it is important you find someone you can work with to be alongside you on this journey.

How I work

"The Relationship is at the heart of my work"

I offer a warm, safe and supportive therapy space where you can be heard. Whatever you choose to share will be held in a confidential, secure and respected environment.

We are all unique and I respect your individuality, therefore our work will be tailored to meet your individual needs and wishes. We will create a contract for you to make the changes you want, and we will work together to achieve them.  I am active in my approach and I often ask questions, offer insights and highlight patterns to help you become more self-aware. It is through this self-awareness that I believe healing, growth and change can occur.

I work from an integrative perspective, which enables me to work with all parts of the self (conscious and unconscious). I work holistically with the mind and the body as I believe they are interconnected and can offer important insights into your experiences. I sometimes like to bring creative ways of working into the room to help us understand the different parts of self, especially those which might destructive or harmful to ourselves.

It can take bravery to start this work and it can at times be challenging. It is therefore important that you choose the right therapist for you. I offer a free 30-minute initial meeting so you have a chance to meet me and experience what it is like to work together. Please get in touch if you have any questions or queries.

About Transactional Analysis

Transactional Analysis (TA)  is a model of personal development, intended to elicit freedom, growth and transformation. We all have a past that influences how we live our lives today and these life experiences can shape our view of ourselves, others, and the world. We can sometimes get stuck in unhelpful patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviour that can be limiting or destructive to us. TA Psychotherapy is a wonderful way of helping us understand ourselves and our situations better. In our work, we can help you become aware of old patterns that are no longer serving you and offer you the space to re-write your story. By taking back control, you can live a more authentic and autonomous life.
