How I can help you

I offer shorter-term and long-term psychotherapy. The length of your therapy depends on your needs and how you progress through the therapy journey. It is my preference to work with clients on a weekly basis as I believe this provides the best opportunity for a good therapeutic outcome.

I work with a variety of presenting issues, some of which include;

Individuals Counselling

Counselling tends to be shorter-term work. Counselling is a supportive process which helps guide you to find short-term solutions to current difficulties or immediate issues that are present in the here and now. Counselling tends to be more appropriate for those with less complex issues.

Counselling can help you to develop awareness and skills for problem management and personal development in daily life through the use of your personal resources. Counselling offers emotional and sometimes practical support to help you to better manage life and adjust to change or adversity.

Individuals Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy can be longer-term work. Psychotherapy is more appropriate for those with deeper rooted issues and ongoing patterns of behaviour. In Psychotherapy we will explore how you are shaped by your life experiences, especially those from childhood. We will likely explore past experiences, unconscious processes and repeated patterns of behaviour that might be contributing to present day problems. By addressing the root cause, lasting change and personal growth can occur.

As a client eloquently once put:

"whilst we look for ways to fire fight in the here and now, psychotherapy also helps you to find where the fire started in the first place, so you can put it out and prevent it from starting again."

Couples Therapy

Relationships can be difficult and can highlight communication issues, attachment patterns, fears around intimacy, connection and belonging, alongside our worth and value to name a few. Couples enter into therapy for many reasons and it might be family conflict, difficult life transitions, work-related stress or financial struggles that is causing problems in your relationship.

Our work will involve exploring and understanding the difficulties you may be facing in your relationship, whilst having the safety of a therapist to hold whatever might arise between you. We may also look at how your historical relational patterns may be contributing to present day difficulties in your relationship. Couples therapy can help you to become aware of repeated patterns, improve communication and interactions with one-another and gain clarity in the relationship so that you can work towards a relationship that feels more fulfilling for you both.

The length of couples therapy is largely dependent on the complexity of issues presented.
